Overwhelmed is more than a feeling

So, quick stuff: I recently mentioned to a friend that I was overwhelmed.

You see the thing is, I struggle with anxiety. No, not the feeling of fear, but much more than that, it’s not knowing.
Believing in God and steadily quoting 2 Timothy 1:7 have helped cos I know that God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, of love, and a sound mind.

Well, that helps a lot.

But being or even feeling overwhelmed is more than a feeling; it’s realising how tired you are of not just the things you do not like but the things you care about.

It’s praying to be the little spoon when all you’ve ever been is the older, mature, and big spoon. You see, I believe this goes beyond age or ethnicity and of all those variables.

Being overwhelmed is realising so many hangs in the balance with your every decision, how many people depend on you but also how much you’ve been fighting, for them and for you.

Overwhelmed is being tired of it all, the joys of work, the smile that comes with knowing who you are, what you’ve done, and the pride of being who and where you are now, and silently wishing that you weren’t any of these things.

Overwhelmed is trying to survive another day and wishing something or someone takes you out of the drawing board, and that for once someone else takes over so you can at least take a breathe, for yourself.

Overwhelmed is a deep breathe you wish you didn’t have to take.

Like black tax, overwhelmed doesn’t care, or it does, just not for you but for how much it takes from you.

You are overwhelmed

And frankly, I am too.
